TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Attitude

A friendly positive attitude acting with courtesy, patience & respect at all times is essential.

Age

You must be 18 years of age or over to be considered for any volunteer position at the festival.

Photo ID

Photo Id will be required at all times on site

Email Address

All applicants must have regular access to a valid email address that will accept attachments & PDF files. Majority of communication and correspondence will be made via the email system.

Volunteer positions

Volunteer positions are available during the festival only.  Once you are engaged to volunteer during the festival you must be available to complete a 5 hour shift for each day of the two day festival. Finalised festival rosters will be available at the volunteers meeting the day before the festival starts.

pre-festival volunteer meeting

You will be informed via email of the details of the meeting. This is a compulsory meeting for all volunteers; failure to attend will result in loss of shifts. This meeting will be held on the Friday before the festival, March 21st.

Festival Entry

As a volunteer you will receive a volunteer armband. This armband will be given to you during the volunteer briefing session on Friday the 21st of March. This armband must be worn at all times for the duration of the festival. You will only receive one armband so it must be worn all day Saturday and Sunday. These armbands are non transferable and will not be replaced if lost or stolen. Any volunteers caught trying to enter the site wearing this armband with no intention of fulfilling their shift requirement will be automatically escorted from the site and banned from returning to the site for the duration of the festival.

Roster Attendance

Anyone who does not sign on and off their assigned shift or complete the full 5 hours of their shift daily without notifying the volunteer co-ordinators will be replaced immediately and lose their place on the volunteer team for the remainder of the festival.

smoking / alcohol / drug use

Smoking, consumption of alcohol or drug use pre or during your shift will not be tolerated under any circumstance. Removal of armband and from site will be immediate.

personal items

Bags, wallets & mobile phones are not to be kept on you during your shift at anytime. These items should be stored in the volunteer cloak room located in the volunteer head quarters. Event organisers will not be held responsible for any loss of personal items during the festival.

Dress Code

Enclosed shoes must be worn at all times on site. Failure to wear appropriate shoes is strictly enforced for your own safety. Sandals & thongs are not appropriate footwear. Appropriate clothing for all weather conditions is your responsibility and should include both wet weather gear as well as sun block hats etc. You will be provided with a volunteer hat and t-shirt and ask that you wear dark pants/shorts/jeans to accompany this uniform.

We take pride in observing high standards of Occupational Health and Safety throughout the festival. We endeavour to provide you with the safest working conditions possible. As a member of the volunteer team you must comply with all safety requirements associated with your volunteer position and support the OHS procedures. You are required to follow your supervisor’s or volunteer co-ordinators reasonable direction at all times. An Occupational Health & Safety meeting will also be held on site before the festival starts.

Non Australian Applicants

All volunteer applicants must be either born in Australia or have an existing resident or working holiday visa for the duration of the festival. Student visas are only acceptable if the visa stipulates that work is permitted. Proof of your visa will be required before confirmation as a volunteer can be finalised. Dismissal

Please note no volunteer will be dismissed until the volunteer has the opportunity to discuss the reasons for dismissal with the Volunteer Co-ordinator on duty and show how you are a valuable member of the volunteer team. The final decision will be made after consultation between at least 2 of the co-ordinators. Possible grounds for dismissal may include but are not limited to the following:

• Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs before or during your shift.

• Theft.

• Insubordination, abuse or mistreatment of festival goers, staff, other volunteers or management.

• Failure to abide by festival policies & procedures.

• Failure to complete 5 hour shift as directed by your Volunteer Co-ordinators.

• Disappearing during allocated tasks.
